Transformational Development World Vision believes that the best way to improve children's lives is through child focused transformational development. We work with families, communities and children in many areas in Indonesia through a range of programmes that foster change and improve their well-being. Transformational development is the process through which children, families and communities identify and overcome the obstacles that prevent them from living life in all its fullness. World Vision partners with communities to improve lives. Through these partnerships, communities access the knowledge and resources needed to improve the well-being of children and overcome poverty. In partnership with disadvantaged communities, World Vision facilitates and enables people to discover and use their own ideas and skills works to move from poverty to self-sufficiency. This process first helps people and their communities to recognize the resources that formulate within themselves to make change possible. We support communities to transform themselves by carrying out their own development programming in education, health, economic development, microfinance, agriculture, water and sanitation and other community context needs. The principles of the transformational development are community ownership, holism, sustainability, and mutual transformation. By helping community members help each other, World Vision ensures that the process of positive change continues long after development staffs have left. In carrying some of the programs, World Vision join hands with Wahana Visi Indonesia as its local partner. Sponsorship Child sponsorship builds relationships between children, their families, sponsors and World Vision staff. These relationships enable mutual transformation by sharing resources, hope and experiences in overcoming poverty. World Vision opposes proselytism (actively recruiting converts) or coercion of any kind. This main principle applies to other faith-based relationships being built and maintained. Public Awareness We encourage people to see beyond their own situation and interests, and to care about the needs of others. We raise awareness of human need through a variety of programs and campaigns, creating partnerships and understanding between people in different parts of the world that can enable us all to work in solidarity to reach our goals. The best way to change a child's life is to change the world in which they live.
By sponsoring a child, you will help to bring about long-term benefits to the child, their family and community. Your support will help to fund vital development work in the child's community. This work ensures that the community will be able to provide the children with the basics they need, helps them to grow up in a healthy environment and have the chance for a better future. What is Child Sponsorship? Child sponsorship is a way of raising long term support for children while providing a rich and rewarding experience to donors. Child sponsorship establishes a relationship between a donor and a single child in a way that personalises the challenges of community development while allowing donors to see how their money is making a difference to the life of an individual child, family and their community. Sponsorship helps provide necessities such as access to education, health care, immunisation and clean water and also supports vital development work in the community of the child. How does sponsorship benefit the community? Sponsored children are based in geographic areas where the need to improve child well-being and poverty reduction is the greatest. These are the same areas where the ADPs are established. Through funds from child sponsorship, a long-term community development strategy is developed and implemented. Components of the development program may include working for better health and nutrition, food and water security, microfinance, leadership training, HIV and AIDs elimination, access to education, and ensuring that the children's physical well-being are cared for as well as spiritual support from community members.World Vision believes that the best way to help children is through their families and communities. Child sponsorship funds are used to run development projects that World Vision calls Area Development Programmes (ADPs). ADPs use an approach to development that targets geographical districts with a long-term commitment to improve child well-being and to reduce poverty. ADPs aim to empower communities and help build capacity so that the community itself retains ownership of the development process. The community decides what its development priorities are and works alongside World Vision to achieve its goals. ADPs are integrated and holistic and involve initiatives in health, education, agriculture, water, infrastructure, landmines, leadership, gender, and income generation, according to a community's own needs and priorities. These activities are run over a ten to 15 year span and usually target the poorest areas in the district. The ultimate goal of an ADP is to help the community achieve self-sufficiency so that residents can provide for themselves and for their children without outside help. It's easy to feel hopeless, but through child sponsorship, you truly can do something about it, something extraordinary. You can help the child and make changes not only for the child but also for the community where the child lives. So, do not wait anymore. Join child sponsorship program.
